I was older yesterday. As always, particularly in recent times, it was a very quiet time for me. As literally nobody was around and it hadn't even occurred to me to take a holiday, most of it was actually spent at work! Not so bad, the alternative would have meant me spending way to much time reflecting on the past year. Sigh...growing old and growing pains. On a mixed note people don't believe my age thinking I'm much younger. No I understand why growing up, my father was always trying to prove at every turn that he was an old man. LOL! Also for the first time, I received the Facebook birthday treat! Now that is a platform for staying connected with friends and family. Featured many times on this blog (http://deji77.shutterchance.com/photoblog/LOOKING_AT_U/, http://deji77.shutterchance.com/photoblog/A_PRAYER/), her beauty and sincerity have always struck me as being at the heart of who she is. I do wish you hadn't left and I spent more time keeping touch. Alas, change is the only constant I can think of at the moment. Do have a blessed Sunday and week ahead. And also thanks for the comments and visits in advance. CRW_8934-Edit.jpg

A pot of sunshine she takes with her where ever she goes. And I'm really glad to be a part of that. I know the coming months are going to be really stressful, but hey it's going to be alright in the end, so we mustn't ever forget that. I've been trying my hands at printing large pictures lately (20"x16") of a couple of my portraits. The cost aside (£10/print), it has been a mixture of frustration and joy; you really have to see a picture mounted on a wall to appreciate the beauty as screens no matter how large fall short of doing it any justice. On the other hand colour and tonal calibration are just eluding my two screen setup. On my laptop, images are too bright compared to prints, but the colours, quite similar. The CRT monitor, suffer from too saturated colours compared with the final prints. Anyone got a calibration kit I could loan for a few days? LOL. CRW_3388-Edit.jpg

A LITTLE VACATION

Phew! It has been quite a long holiday for me from photography. I really needed the time away to remind myself why I got into it. At the end I realised that I do photography, because I love it. Creating images is something I find so very up-lifting and relaxing. Even more so when you realise you have just created something that really moves me. Hopefully, the audience will feel the same way. I still haven't blown the dust off the camera, instead I'm just going through my archive for anything worth posting. In time, I'll be out shooting again. This shot was taken of a close friend on a not too recent trip to Edinburgh. In many ways it captures a lot of what I know about him: handsome, sly but very jovial person. The sort you're comfortable knowing he has your back covered. The Canon 10D has served me very well but particularly with images like the above, it really gets pushed beyond its limits. At 6MP and ISO400 at best, I'd seriously started looking at the Canon 5D, but the thought of splashing out on new lens gave me cold chills! I wasn't impressed with the 20D, 30D or even 40D offerings - they just didn't address the megapixel and noise issues well enough for my liking. In comes the Canon 50D with 15MP and something like ISO12600! Though realistically I recall that just means that ISO800 and ISO1600 will produce very usable images. So I just might upgrade to the 50D eventually. crw_3458-Edit

I work on two monitors and find that they're both calibrated differently. On the main screen, I have this picture in very warm colours. However, on the other screen (my laptop LCD), the image is looking quite "whitish". If I can use that word. So tell me, what do you see? CRW_3013-Edit.jpg
